Lunch & Learn: The Magic of Mardi Gras @ The Sherman Museum

“Come get the ‘skinny’ on Fat Tuesday”

On Friday, February 22nd, The Sherman Museum is hosting our February “Lunch & Learn” presentation in the museum’s Community Room with no charge to the attendees (1/2 price admission to tour the museum after the program). Our speaker is Margaret Vaught Newman., who grew up in Sherman and Baton Rouge, LA. She will talk about the history and traditions of Mardi Gras as well as show some of her Mardi Gras costumes. She is the Reading Specialist and Adventures Afterschool Program Director at Fairview School. Attendees may bring a “sack lunch” – we will furnish chips, bottled water, and King Cakes.

The Sherman Museum is a non-profit 501(c) (3) educational organization devoted to collecting, preserving and interpreting objects of historical significance for visitors and residents of Grayson County and the Greater North Texas Region. The museum was previously known as The Red River Historical Museum prior to a name change in March 2011.

Herbal Simple Syrup – THORS meeting @ Texoma Herb and Old Rose Society

Join us this Saturday as Grayson College Culinary Arts student Shellby Armstrong shows us how to create a simple herbal syrup that is used to make a refreshing drink. We will also be learning basic knife and safety skills.
Meeting is free and open to the public – delicious pot-luck lunch will follow the presentation.
