Welcome to The Cedars – home to one of the city’s most vibrant arts communities. This historic neighborhood, just south of downtown Dallas, is full of the creative energy that comes from the gathering of painters, sculptors, photographers, performers, mixed media artists, designers, ceramicists, and many more.
On Saturday, November 23, 2019, we’re opening our doors and inviting you in for the 17th Annual Cedars Open Studios Tour. This is your chance to explore our studios, galleries and favorite neighborhood hangouts. We will share our creations and show you more about our creative process and inspirations.
Then join us as we wrap up the evening with our Cedars Open Studios celebration at the legendary Lee Harvey’s. If you’ve never been to the Cedars, come on in to experience our neighborhood, which we consider a constantly evolving work of art itself.
Stayed tuned for more information on our artists, venues and event details.
Use the ticket link above to sign up for our newsletter and get the latest updates about other Cedars Open Studios events throughout the year.

The Butterfly / Papillon Shawl pattern by Marin Melchior looks a lot more difficult than it is. Short rows are used to create an intricate pattern using two or more colors of yarn. The intricacy of the pattern also makes the written pattern look more intimidating than it really is.
The purpose of this class is to help you get started knitting this pattern. We will go over the abbreviations used in the pattern: what they mean and how to do each of them, such as “wrap and turn” and “make one left” and “make one right”.
You will then knit the first sections of the pattern, which will allow you to practice all of the techniques required to complete the shawl.
We will also go over some tips on how to keep track of your place in the pattern. If you would like to try using the free KnitCompanion app to keep the pattern on your tablet, please bring your tablet and we can get you started. The app is extremely easy to use. If you prefer to use a paper copy, highlighter tape will be provided for you to mark your place.
This is a “free with purchase” class, meaning that you pay $25 to reserve your place in the class, but you receive a $25 gift certificate that you can redeem in the shop for any merchandise.

These days we are bombarded with images, and with the advent of social media platforms like Instagram and others, not being a photographer means you are missing out! But have you ever wanted to receive more meaningful feedback on your images, deepen your photographic prowess, refine your eye and take your work to the next level? If so, this workshop is for you!
Jared Tredway is facilitating a weekly pin-up session and conversation to help us accomplish more inspiration and focus before we hit the shutter button. Through conversations about composition, color, formatting, technique, presentation platform and more, participants will develop their intuitive ability to see and capture images that captivate, regardless of skill level or what camera we’re using.
WHEN? Meets weekly on Saturday afternoons at 2 PM
HOW MUCH? $15 per session
WHO? All ages/skill levels welcome; however, participants under age 18 must
be accompanied by a parent or guardian also taking the class.
