Call and Response is multi-media art exhibition and fundraising event benefiting the Ghost Town Arts Collective, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
The Ghost Town Arts Collective is a non-profit, arts co-operative based in the Texoma region that has been supporting and nurturing the arts since 2007. We are dedicated to creating an open space for the arts community to experiment, share, and connect, and for the community at large to experience the creative process through participation, appreciation, and education. For this purpose, we have established a makerspace for hosting artistic workshops and classes as well as hosting gallery exhibitions showcasing visual and performance art, music, dance, spoken word, poetry, creative writing, bookmaking, and film created by members of our community.
For the past two years, we have been working in collaboration with Ideation Station to develop various creative workshops, artistic programs, and gallery exhibitions.
The artist reception will be held on Saturday, August 17th, 2019. The reception is free to attend with food and non-alcoholic drinks provided on a donation basis. Come have fun and view artwork made by local Artists!
As artists we share a common desire to express our thoughts, ideas, and emotions. Some speak in visual languages, others craft with words or sounds, and some are compelled to perform. Very often we are asked to speak or write about the meaning in our work or share something about our creative process with those who seek a deeper understanding. Whether a poem or song lyric inspires your art, or conversely your work inspires your memory of a written piece, “Call and Response” asks each artist to exhibit written words alongside your art. The relationship between the words selected and the visual or performance pieces becomes itself part of the art, affecting the individual sensual perceptions of all who experience the work.
We’ve reset the Gallery Off the Square in Ideation Station and here is a visual progress report as of 11 pm Saturday August 10, 2019.
